Our Christmas Tree

This morning we trimmed our Christmas tree. Since we are moving some time near Christmas, we decided to get an artificial tree thinking it would be easier to move. We had fun reminiscing over all our decorations. The girls chose which ornaments would go where and it turned out beautiful!

Go Rapids!

It was the end of the Rapids season. Victor took Sierra to the game. As usual, they ride their bikes with the gang, Robert, Bella, Matt and Brady. Our team played the Seattle Sounders and lost 0:1 in their final playoff game. Sierra had a great time with her friend Bella!

Another Sunny Day

Saturday was another sunny day so we walked to the playground at Wicker Park to get some exercise. The girls had a ball playing together on the slides and swing.

Happy Thanksgiving

It was a beautiful, sunny 50 degree day this Thanksgiving. We slept in late. Victor made a delicious eggs Benedict breakfast!

Before our feast, we played on the school playground with families from all over the neighborhood.

Our feast was complete with a deliciously moist rosemary turkey, bacon wrapped green beans, seasoned and baked broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers, cranberry sauce and cherry pie!

We are so thankful for our family and the love we share, our friends, our health, the happiness we feel, the food we are about to eat, the prosperity we've enjoyed over the years, and the love we have for God and all he has given us! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Children's Science Center

The weather was cold today. It rained last night and upon waking there were snow flurries coming down. We decided to go somewhere fun for the day, so we chose the Children's Science Museum. While Victor entertained Sierra, I followed Audrey around the center...

Audrey sawed a block in half and hammered a nail into pieces of wood. She also made a flower out of recycled box pieces. She was very focused and excited to construct things out of recycled materials!

The bubble room was fun too. Audrey climbed inside a huge bubble and made tubular bubble to put her head inside!

We ran into her friend Annika in the motion and gravity room, then we made sculptures out of clay in the art room. The girls made owls, kittens and Christmas wreaths, which we will pick up in 2 weeks after they are fired!

A Wild Smile

The girls had their 6 month dental check up this week. They got X-rays, a cleaning, fluoride and sealant on their molars. Way to go girls!

Having Fun at Bass Pro

Afrer meeting Santa and getting the girls picture taken, the girls played in Santa's winter wonderland for a bit. The built log cabins, they shot rifles, shot bow and arrows, played on the boats and atv's and colored Christmas pictures. It was a fun afternoon. Later, we went home to watch the movie, "A Christmas Story."

Thank You Mimi

Wednesday night, the girls got a surprise in the mail from Mimi.

Excited to to know what was inside the box, Audrey exclaimed, "we LOVE getting surprises!"

Mimi sent the girls stretch pants and matching tops to keep them warm this winter. Thank you Mimi for your thoughtfulness!

Fortunately, we've been having extra warm weather this fall, with today reaching a high of 80 degrees!

Sunday at the Zoo

Today was another beautiful, sunny day. With weather in the mid-70's, we couldn't resist doing something outside. So we decided to go to the zoo!

Sierra's favorite art exhibit was the sea turtle, but the swordfish was amazing too!

We saw the Washed Ashore art exhibits again as well as all the baby animals. The shark exhibit was amazing and Audrey loved as impressed by the emu (since we just read "Edward the Emu."

It was an amazing day!

Trolls Movie...

With no school on Thursday and Friday, the girls have a fun day planned with their daddy. He decided to take them to the new 3D movie Trolls.

They went to the 10:45 matinee, got their 3D glasses, popcorn, sosa & snacks.

According to the girls, the movie was about finding happiness, and it was fantastic!

Afterwards, Victor walked the girls around the shopping center to see all the Christmas decorations! It was the perfect day!

Babies at the Zoo

At the zoo today we saw lots of baby animals including baby peacocks, a baby gorilla, a baby water buffalo, baby mountain goats, baby birds, and baby monkeys. We even saw a 5 year old baby girl Komodo dragon, Audrey's favorite of all the animals at the zoo!

Washed Ashore at the Zoo

The zoo had the amazing "washed ashore" art exhibit. It was art with a purpose. Trash that washed ashore on the beaches across the world were transformed into amazing works of art to celebrate and save our oceans. Audrey loved the art and found lots of plastic toys, shoes, bottle caps and other plastic debris shaped into fish, turtles, birds and jellies.
