Woopie Pies

This morning after an early breakfast, Audrey wanted to bake! So she picked out the easy-bake woopie pie recipe. She mixed all the ingredients, rolled the mix into six tiny balls for each pie, pressed them down and baked them in the oven for 9 minutes.
When the pies were baking, the house smelled like chocolate. Audrey made the icing, then assembled the pies after they had cooled. And, to think, she did all that before 8am! Nice job, Audrey!

Easy Bake Oven...

Audrey loves to watch cooking videos. More specifically, she likes baking. And, in one video she saw a person cooking with an easy baked oven and asked if we could get one.
My frugal husband found a purple one for  $7 and bought it! So as a surprise to both girls, we wrapped it up and gave it to them. Of course, they had to be nice to each other, share and not pick any fights for an entire week!
The incentive made it easy for the girls. They made pretzels as their first recipe. Stirring all the ingredients and preparing the dough into fun shapes!
Audrey made fun hearts, twisty pretzels and twisty sticks! Sierra made a circle roll, sticks and twisty pretzels.

Water Balloons & Cupcakes

On Sierra's last day of camp, they had a water balloon fight and served up cupcakes to the kids to celebrate all the fun they've been having at the all sports camp!
Sierra learned how to throw a baseball and catch one in her Colorado Rockies glove. She wasn't a fan of football, but she loved playing soccer!
Audrey was invited to play on the last day too, which made her happy because she loves cupcakes!

All-Sports Camp

Sierra loves her week of All-Sports camp. Each day this week she plays soccer, baseball and football to learn the rules of the games and the techniques of the players.
The camp is half days at Central Park. There are a mix of boys and girls and she's making new friends. On Friday, the last day, there will be a party and water balloon fight! The coach even invited Audrey to participate. It's going to be a fun day!

Audrey & Her Daddy...

Since Sierra has been involved with camp in most mornings, Audrey has had a lot of Daddy time. They have lunch, they shop, and they ride bikes together all over the neighborhood.
Above, they went to GNC to pick up 2 Total Body Cleanse kits while waiting for Sierra at math camp.
And above, Victor met up with Audrey and I visiting Outdoor World while Sierra was at her sports camp. Audrey really wanted to see the ducks and fish in their displays... And pretend we were driving pontoon boats and ATV's!

Audrey and her daddy spent the rest of the day together while I went back to work that afternoon. Happy Wednesday to all!

Our Tower Garden

We love our tower garden! Ever since we installed our vertical hydroponic garden, we've been so excited to see the greens and vegetables grow.

We harvest our garden daily to make fresh salads and shakes with arugula, heirloom lettuce, spinach and kale. We also planted cherry tomatoes, cucumber, artichoke, eggplant and green beans, along with fresh herbs like basil, chives and mint.
One of the many advantages of growing organic vegetables at home, beyond the pure convenience, is the better flavors. For example, our arugula has a wonderful  peppery spice to it that I've never tasted from grocery store arugula.

Thanks dad for keeping us healthy!

Rapids Win!

Today Sierra got up early to go to her karate demo practice. Then later in the afternoon we went to Matt and Stephanie's house for a pre-soccer game cookout with friends from the neighborhood.
We rode our bikes to the stadium and when we arrived, we saw a beautiful rainbow overhead. Due to the early rain, there was a 30 minute rain delay when we arrived. It was such a cool night, we didn't mind at all.
We arrived at 6 and stayed until the end of the game around 9. It was tons of fun! Above Sierra, Bella, Audrey and Christiano are playing under cover.
Audrey and Shay had a great time too! the Rapids beat the #2 team Dallas 1-0.

The Wizard of Oz

Tonight was the debut of the Wizard of Oz at the Founder's Green theatre. The theatrical production started with the story from the book.
While Sierra was familiar with the story,
Audrey was full of questions, like why the scarecrow needed a brain when he seemed to already have one...and why the lion needed courage when he was so brave already!
Sierra met Maya, her friend from next door, to watch the show.
The girls loved the production (especially the dog Todo) and they were all mesmerized by the singing and dancing, choosing to watch the show from the front row railing while we were on the grass.
It was a two hour show and the kids watched every minute!
What a spectacular night!

Princess of the Park!

Today Audrey went to the park with her daddy. She's been getting a lot of quality daddy-daughter time while Sierra is in math camp. She climbed the biggest Boulder in Central Park. As you can see, it was a beautiful sunny afternoon in Denver!

Painting of the Girls

One of my mom's friends from her book club painted this portrait of the girls in their cute Snow White costumes! The real photo was taken in Rhode Island at our Gold Street house. I recall the day vividly.
Thanks to the new portrait, the girls are immortalized forever! My mom keeps it in her house hung on the wall in her living room. So precious!

Orioles 1966 World Series Anniversary

A couple weeks ago, my dad celebrated the 50th team anniversary of the 1966 World Series with the Baltimore Orioles. He was pictured with the team including Boog Powell, Jim Palmer, & Brooks Robinson among others. Dad is pictured top right.
It was a press worthy event and featured a pre-game at Camden Yards prior to playing the Angels on Friday, July 8th. The full article for the celebration was written up by the Baltimore Sun here: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bs-sp-orioles-remember-1966-0708-20160707-story.html
At the event, an old photo surfaced showing dad in 1966 with a lady who won a contest where she had her photo taken with dad, the star second baseman!
Way to go dad! You're looking good!

The Fairies Visited Our Home!!

Sierra had a dream last night about visiting a museum that had a secret door. When she opened the door, she entered a secret world that was beautiful and colorful...filled with flowers!
Two days earlier Sierra and Audrey built a small fairy house complete with a trampoline and swimming pool. They also left miniature notes telling each fairy they loved them and hope they enjoyed the house they made.

On the same night Sierra had her dream, the fairies came to visit and left fairy dust all over the mini- house. They also took bites out of the candy they left and gave the girls four quarters!

Ryan's Birthday!

Saturday was our neighbor Ryan's birthday. He turned 40. In Stapleton, that is the perfect reason to have a party. As good neighbors, we arrived promptly at 4. We played cornhole, the kids rose their scooters and bikes and enjoyed good conversation with friends.
After we sang the birthday song and had cake, they brought out a piƱata. The kids had s great time striking it to get it to pour out with candy. After 1-1/2 rounds, it finally burst open.
Happy birthday Ryan!

Birthdays...

Today, we celebrated Audrey's tiger baby & Sierra's kitty cat's birthday. Audrey made the cup cakes by mixing all the ingredients, and after I iced them, she added the sprinkles.
We lit the candles, 1 for each (stuffed animal) cat, sang the birthday song, and enjoyed the delicious cup cakes.
Unfortunately, neither of the cats wanted their share of cupcake, so the girls had to help out and eat if for them!

Omar's 5th Birthday

Today, Audrey was invited to her friend Omar's fifth birthday party.
They had face painting, played on the playground, made balloon characters, and ate cake pops!
Audrey's friend Conner was also at the party. They had a great time!

Yoga on the Lawn

Today at dusk, the girls relaxed for yoga on our lawn...
They hung in there for all the poses, including the warrior poses, downward dog, tree pose and lots more.
Namaste!

Fireworks!

While Audrey and I ventured over to Sarah and John's house for their BBQ party, Sierra and Victor rode to the soccer game on their bikes with the neighbors.
The game against the Timberwolves ended in a tie (0-0), but the fireworks and music made the event very memorable!
At the end of the game, all the spectators flooded the field to watch the fireworks while laying back on the grass.
It was spectacular fun! Audrey and I could see the fireworks from our balcony at home. Happy Independence Day to all!

Happy 4th of July

After the conservatory green parade, we spent the day at the pool soaking up the sun, laughing and playing!

Audrey was swimming all over the pool with her daddy...
We are so proud she has been practicing her new skills!
We packed a lunch and stayed through the late afternoon.
Later in the afternoon, we headed back to the house to get ready for the soccer game.

Annika's 5th birthday!

For Annika's birthday, we met at the pool. It was the perfect afternoon - sunny and clear skies!

After swimming in the pool, they enjoyed pizza and cake!
Audrey loves Annika! She is her best friend.
She gave her a talking kitty that purrs and a Ty basset hound named tracker - both animals were super soft!
Audrey swam in the deep end and showed how good she was at freestyle and backstroke. She had no problem putting her head under water and breathing to the side!
Way to go Audrey! We love you!

Riverwalkers

Sierra enjoyed her Riverwalkers camp. Today was the last day and it was bittersweet. Saying goodbye to her friends and counsellor, Maddie, was not easy.
Sierra hugs Maddie at the end of the day.
With her friend Jessie. They made boats from drink containers using their straws as rudders. So much fun!
