Riverwalkers Camp

Today was Sierra's first fay of camp at Bluff Lake. She saw a few friends when we arrived which made her feel at ease. She'll be learning about nature and all the dynamics of river systems. I'm sure she'll see ducks, frogs and fish and lots of bugs and plant life too. Camp lasts all week from 9 am to 2:30pm.

Hiking Maxwell Falls

Sunday we ventured to Evergreen to see Maxwell Falls.
Instead of hiking from the lower trailhead, we started at the top.
We saw the amazing Lookout Point - a rock formation looking out over the mountains covered in pine.
The hike follows the Maxwell Creek so there are multiple waterfalls and riverbed a to play in and cool off.
The girls did great today pushing through all the uphill climbs and downhill slides!
On the side of this small waterfall, we stopped to enjoy our lunch in a nice cool shady spot.
Not a bad way to spend our Sunday afternoon!

Cycling Around...

Today while Sierra was at the spa with her friends, we went on a bike ride through our neighborhood.
Audrey did fantastic especially after just learning to ride a couple of weeks ago!
We stopped at the bridge and Audrey found a ladybug!
We rode around the neighborhood, under the highway to t he Northfield shopping center where we had lunch at Audey's favorite restaurant, Zen Sushi. Our ride home was fun too. Audrey sped forward to reach the house first!

Spa Day

Early Saturday morning, Sierra met her friends Bella and Lauren for a spa day - a surprise from Lauren's mom, Jill, for Lauren's 7th birthday!
After meeting at her house, the girls went to pick up Izzy at her house.
At the spa, Sierra wanted a waterfall braid for her up-do.
It turned out gorgeous!
Then she got a pedicure that tickled her feet...followed by a manicure complete with nail art!
For lunch, Lauren's sister Macy joined the girls for at North, a posh Italian restaurant in Cherry Creek.
The girls celebrated with birthday cupcakes at Lauren's house and then opened the gifts. It was a spectacular day for Sierra and her girlfriends!

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks

On Thursday night, we had a company event at Coors Field. It was supposed to be team building, but it was mostly just fun. We had a block of seats near the right field line. It was a cool evening and the game started right at dusk (7pm).
Fortunately for the girls, our tickets came with a $20 credit to buy merchandise or concessions. We splurged on the girls and got them Rockies gear. A pink hat and tank for Audrey and a water spritzing fan and baseball glove for Sierra!

The Rockies lost to the Diamondbacks (7-6), but we had a great time anyway.

Mommy Bikes to Work

This past Wednesday was the official, "Bike to Work" day. So, I took the challenge and now I'm hooked! It takes me about 40 minutes to drive from Stapleton to downtown Denver and about the same time by bike. So, in the process of doing something I have to do everyday, now I'm getting fit too!

I decided to try it for a month and see what happens. If I Iike it (which I think I do after only 2 days), I'll stick with it through September or until the snow is back.

Happy Father's Day, Victor!

For Father's day, the girls prepared a fun morning filled with a special breakfast, opening gifts they made and getting lots of hugs and kisses.
The girls each made Victor special cards and painted canvases. Sierra's artwork compared her love for her daddy to the Milky Way galaxy. Audrey's art said, "I love you daddy!"
Audrey also made her daddy a special beaded ring with a beautiful center stone
After opening the gifts, we walked to the art festival at conservatory green, had lunch at Brixx and came home to recouperate from the 100 degree heat!
At the art festival, we found a great illustrator who created a book called Noah, and another called the Sunshine Man. Both books had no words, so we got to make up our own story based on the pictures - our favorite kinds of books!
Later, we watched the Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the basketball Finals, then had family movie night with the Minions movie. We spent the entire day together laughing and playing!
Happy Father's Day, honey!

Audrey Learns to Swim

Audrey did great in her swim class on Saturday morning. I got to take her since victor was in Parker with Sierra for karate.
She did great floating on her back, swimming with their faces underwater and blowing bubbles and doing the back stroke.
In between turns with each child, Audrey practices what she learned. She's such a good swimmer! Way to go Audrey!

Rapids Win Again!

After Sierra's karate tournament, she and her daddy went to see the Rapids soccer game. The rode their bikes over with out neighbors Robert and Matt and their kids.
It was so much fun. After the game was over, they met a rookie player to get his autograph!

Karate Tournament in Parker

Sierra won 5th place in her forms at this months karate tournament. She tried really hard to beat an 8 year old in sparring, but he ended up beating her. We were so proud of her courage and effort! Way to go Sierra!

Friday Night BBQ

On Friday night, our neighbor, Ryan & Jill, invited us over to their house for a BBQ with a few other families on our street. After bouncing in their mini bounce house, Audrey found the MagnaTiles and started creating a castle & tower.

Sierra was running around with their daughter Lauren. And we were all enjoying the cool night air on their porch a over a game of bean bags.
Then later that night everyone went to another friends house where they set up an inflatable movie screen to watch MegaMind. Happy Friday to all!

Colorado Rapids Win!

Tonight the Rapids played an intern year game against the minor league, Colorado Springs Switchbacks. It was close until 80 minutes  into the game then we scored!
The girls were excited to win and lots of screaming ensued.
We had hotdogs for dinner and Sierra and Bella stalked the mascot Edson the Eagle!
He retaliated by eating her head!
What a fun Tuesday night!

Swimming Lessons

Monday morning the girls had swimming lessons at Maverick pool.
Victor watched Audrey learn to float in her back and practice kicking.
Audrey loved her class and can't wait to swim on her own. Both girls have lessons every day this week!

Sunday, June 12, 2016

Today we ventured outside of Stapleton to Evergreen. We had lunch at Beajou's, then walked down Bear Creek to Evergreen Lake.

It was a beautiful clear day, about 80 degrees with a cool breeze flowing throughout our walk.

People were fishing along the shoreline. Ducks, geese and their ducklings were out swimming in the lake.

The lake has multiple springs and flowed to a waterfall, then down the Bear Creek, which flows south to the Mississippi River and ends in the Gulf!

Yoga & Pool Fun

This morning while Sierra and Victor were at karate practice, Audrey and I enjoyed a yoga class on the grass by the pool. We learned downward dog, tree pose, warrior pose and so many more from Onon, our neighbor and friend.
Audrey kept up for the entire class. It was so much fun.
Afterwards, Audrey and I went to the pool to have a relaxing afternoon, just the two of us!
Happy Saturday!
