Our New Year's Eve...

For New Year's Eve, we ventured to Keystone resort to snow board into the new year!

We arrived midday to ski the mountain. After a few trips up the River Run and back down the 3.4 mile run, my toes were frozen!
It was a beautiful sight to be on top of the mountain at sunset!
Afterwards, we headed to the Kickapoo Tavern for bloody mary's and hot chili! Mmmmm! After refueling, we went out for a few night ski runs them headed back to our hotel! Happy New Years to everyone!

Children's Science Center

We explored the children's science center on Wednesday. The girls absolutely loved it!
There was a bubble room where they could wrap huge bubbles around their heads, and make and pop bubbles filled with steam.
It was totally fascinating!
Audrey found a cubby hole inside a tree with a cool light effect...
Then there was an engineering section where the girls could make toys out of recycled materials. Audrey made a spinning fan wrapped in colorful pipe cleaners...
Then we found an art center where they created paintings and clay sculptures to take home!
The jungle play center was fun too with slides and lots of things to climb!

The Good Dinosaur

Sierra and her daddy had a date tonight to go see the movie, The Good Dinosaur.
Sierra was so excited to be alone with him after our date. In the mean time, Audrey, Gigi and I stayed home and made bracelets and key chains...fun, fun, fun!

Date night...

With Gigi here, we were able to get away for the night...we drove to Westminster to see Star Wars in 3-D IMAX!

It was well worth the trip and we were happy to have peace and quiet for the night and sleep-in the next morning!

Merry Christmas

With Gigi in town, we had a fabulous Christmas! The girls were very polite and patient as we waited until after breakfast to start the fun.
Santa brought dolls....
Oragami paper and books...
Grand-dad sent gifts...
The big theme was sea animals! The girls both got ocean animal figurines...
We got lots of kisses and hugs!
Sierra got a book of fish with lenticular photos from Gigi!

More dolls and animals from Grand-dad and Su-su!
Audrey got a special dolphin snow globe from Santa....
Sierra got a bike and fancy helmet from her daddy!

Audrey got a computer from her mommy!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Reindeer Food

On the eve of Christmas just before bedtime, we concocted a fabulous mix of oats and glitter to atract Santa's reindeer tonight so they would be certain to stop at our house. The girls did their best to scatter the food all around our front yard.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas Eve!

With Gigi visiting, we enjoyed a fun Christmas Eve romping around the house, wrapping presents, and shopping for last minute goodies. For dinner we stayed in to avoid the crowds, baked Santa some yummy oatmeal raisin cookies, then opened the traditional Christmas Eve gift.
The girls were tickled and loved opening a present early. Because our girls love to create and draw, I bought them drawing books: forest animals and ocean animals! It was a big hit!

The girls got started right away with their creations...
Sierra started on a woodpecker, while Audrey made a shark!

The Girls Meet Mrs. Claus

Today the girls net Mrs. Claus at Bass Pro Shops. They arrived just in time for story time!
It was so fun to meet Mrs. Claus. She was sweet, kind and oh so nice!

After the photos, the girls took a spin on the carousel. Audrey chose a reindeer, while Sierra chose the bear...
Unable to resist, Sierra growls and claws like a bear!
The store was filled with holiday scenes, reindeer...
...and villages!
It was a fun day out with daddy! Merry Christmas to all!

Thank You Mimi!

After our move, we lost some of Sierra's birthday shipments...but finding them is oh so much fun!
A normal weeknight was transformed into birthday fun when Victor gave Sierra her gift from Mimi!
A super cozy warm up suit and a cute elephant outfit! Audrey also got a silky top and sweat pants to keep her warm for ski season. We loved all the presents and especially the box it came in! We love you and miss you!

Cocoa with Daddy

Audrey loves being with her daddy after school. Today they went to Starbucks for warm cocoa and treats!

Thank you Grand-dad & Su-su!

With the confusion of our last 2 moves in 6 months, Sierra's birthday gift was accidentally shipped to Rhode Island!   But that didn't matter to Sierra because that just meant her birthday was stretched out over a couple of weeks!
Sierra LOVED the guitar, plush animals, Pez candy and earmuffs! Thank you so much grand-dad and Su-su! We love and miss you!

Snowy Sunday!

Today we decided to take advantage of our big front yard. Our home sits on a community area which had lots of snow from the snow storm on tuesday.
The steady snow brought 12 inches of white powder, which was too dry to make snowmen with earlier in the week.
So today was the day. First we made 2 classic snowmen. Each section of the snowman rolled easily into large round sections. Sierra and Audrey helped make sure the sections were big enough...
Then, we decided to make fun snow dolphins!!
It was a great morning. Afterwards, we shared a flute of delicious eggnog!

Snow Day!

Today we woke to a very cold and very snowy day. School was cancelled and highways were treacherous. So I worked from home for a while, then went out to explore in the snow.

We walked to the High Tech playground to swing and slide and launch ourselves in the snow!
Audrey made snow angels. It was a fabulous day!
Sierra loved sitting in the deep snow and burying herself...by the time we made it home our noses and ears were freezing!
The snow fell all day long at a steady pace. It must have been close to 8 inches by noon.
So we went home to warm up with hot chocolate and marshmallows!

Massage Chairs at BBB

Today we did some Christmas shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond. Halfway through the store the girls discovered the massage chairs. They loved the experience so much it practically put them to sleep!

Blossoms of Light!

Sunday night we joined friends at the Botanic Gardens to see the holiday lights experience called Blossoms of Light.
It was beautiful with so many different things to see. Red glass rods that looked like a water fountain...
The colored balloons over water was stunning...
A photo opp with a wreath of lights...
A tunnel of lights was spectacular...
Beautiful Audrey posed in front of a garden of lights...
Sierra posed with Nick and Rithica....
Autumn colored lights...
Laser lights that looked like paint splatter...
And, finally Audrey and I posed under lights that looked like beautiful blossoms!
It was very cold but so beautiful!
