Sierra Wins a SOAR Award!

This afternoon, Sierra was presented with her SOAR award for displaying the quality of "respect" in all that she does. She was 1 of 3 students in her class that won the award this trimester. We are so excited for her success and for being such a good role model.

SOAR = Safe, Outstanding, Accountable, & Respectful to others, themselves and their community.

During the ceremony, Sierra's teacher, Ms. Philipsen said Sierra, "has the biggest heart and always shows kindness and respect to others. She is accepting of everyone and always has a positive attitude."

We are so excited she was honored today and encouraged to always do her best!

She poses with Ms. Philipsen after school  showing off her award! Way to go Sierra. We love you!

Library Fun...

Since I took the day off, I had plenty of time to spend with my little angel, Audrey. So after picking up Audrey from school, we had lunch together them walked to the library.
Audrey put together a skeleton with all his organs then practiced Spanish with Dora. It's so much fun to learn!

Audrey Wins a SOAR Award!

Today at school, Audrey was presented with a SOAR award for displaying respect and integrity. She is a role model in her class for doing the right things...even when nobody is looking!
We all gathered in the auditorium to watch the ceremony.
Ms. Schmidt presented Audrey her award along with 2 others in her class, Beckett and Max.
We were so proud of Audrey. When they were dismissed, they were all perfectly organized and listened to their teacher.
After the award presentation Audrey's class had saved enough "hawk nickels" (a reward for doing good things in class) to buy a popcorn party in their classroom and to watch part of the movie, The Lorax.
After school, Audrey poses with Ms. Schmidt beaming with pride!
On her way back to class, Audrey was energized and gave me a high five! Way to go girl! We love you!

Fall Festival at High Tech

For the school's Fall Festival, we dressed up in our costumes for the first time. Audrey proud to wear her wedding Cinderella gown complete with veil, crown and glittering butterfly shoes, was all smiles when she met up with her friend Annika.

Sierra dressed up as Princess Jasmine, and was very happy when she saw her friend Cassidy!
Below Audrey poses with Mia dressed as a character from Kurious, a cirque de solae.
Then Audrey found her teacher, Ms Schmidt, and gave her a big hug!
We all went on a hay ride as a tractor pulled us around the parking lot, Sierra with her friends, and me with Audrey.

There was also a parade of costumes where Audrey and Annika kicked up their feet and danced along the path!
Playing on the playground was a super fun highlight.
Sierra and her friends tried to pick up a hay bale, which made them all giggle with laughter...
It's so much fun to be 4 and 6. Happy Halloween to all!

Thank You Mimi!

Mimi sent the girls a package. They were so excited to see what was inside. So Sunday morning after breakfast we opened the gifts. In addition to college fund donations for each of the girls,
Audrey got a beautiful snowflake dress, and...
Sierra got a fabulous hip ensemble!
She wore it well! Happy Sunday everyone!

Hiking the Flat Irons & Royal Arch

After taking it easy for several weeks, we finally decided to go on a new adventure.

We chose a place near Boulder called the Royal Arch Trail. It was a moderate hike 3.2 miles up to the flat irons and filled with lots of varied landscape.
We hiked dirt trails to the base of the mountains, then through wooded forests and several clearings over-looking gulleys and babbling brooks. Sierra poses on a fallen tree branch atop a huge boulder...
Audrey pauses for a rest on a tree stump that looked like a perfect little chair!
It was beautiful, serene and cool. Each breath we took was fresh and smelled of pine!
Huge rocks and boulders were littered throughout the hike. We took every opportunity for photos.
We made it to the base of the first flat iron, and Sierra wanted to scale the wall like many other rock climbers. It was about a 70 degree slope to the top.
The views of Denver and surrounding cities were spectacular!
As we decended to hike around the flat irons we came upon huge areas that looked like landslides of broken stone...
Below we took a break at the next ascent to reach the arch. But, the temperature was dropping and the girls were getting tired so we opted to turn back.
Excited about going home, Audrey practically sprinted back through the forest and rocky paths! It was a great hike and definitely somewhere we will come back to visit!

We're Going on a Bear Hunt!

On Friday, I picked up Audrey from school. When I arrived at her class, they were singing, "I'm going on a bear hunt" and acting out all the scenes. It was so cute, especially when they were running back to the house to get away from the bear!
Audrey and Annica were sitting together goofing off before the song.
Everyone had fun including all the moms watching their kids play and laugh!
I'm so glad it's Friday! Happy weekend to all!

After the Gardens...

Once the field trip to the Botanic Gardens was over and Audrey was home, she played in her room for a while, and then fell asleep! It was a big day!

Audrey's Botanical Garden Field-Trip

Audrey's class went on a field trip today to the Botanical Gardens and Victor chaperoned the class.
It was a cool, rainy day and even late in the fall, there were beautiful flowers in bloom. Audrey had a great time with her class.
Below she poses with Finnegan and Omar in front of a gorgeous horse made out of tree branches.
There was an eerie mist that rolled in over one of the ponds...
It was very halloweenish!
Audrey's favorite sights were the multi-colored roses and the waterfalls. It was a perfect day at school.

Audrey's Halloween Costume!

Audrey knew exactly who she wanted to be this year for Halloween...Cinderella!
After seeing the new movie over the summer, she insisted on dressing up as Cinderella in her wedding gown.
She was so delighted when her costume arrived. And it fit perfectly. We think she is beautiful inside and out!

Avid 4 Adventure!

Today Sierra's first grade class had an outdoor adventure with a company called Avid 4 Adventure. They came to her school and set-up kyak pools, rock climbing walls, and a dirt bike course!
Sierra did each activity and said the dirt biking was her favorite.
For the rock climbing wall, she climbed all the way to the top and rang the bell!
It was kind of chilly, so instead of intentionally flipping her kyak, Sierra decided to stay afloat. Nice choice, Sierra!
For the dirt bikes, they rode through the grassy lawn, over tracks and other obstacles. Sierra has a great time!

Audrey was very patient as she waited for her sister to finish playing and socializing. She ran through a maze to pass the time!
